Dog Breeds and Health Issues
Every dog is unique in their own way, from the color of their coat to their special personalities. They come in all different shapes and sizes, which is why it’s important for every pet owner to know all the qualities of their dog, so they have a better understanding of how to care for them every step of the way.
Below, we’ll discuss a few specific breeds of dogs and the known health issues that are common for these types:
Labrador Retriever
This popular, American favorite pup is famous for its affectionate nature and intelligence. While they’re great for the entire family, an under-exercised dog can lead to joint diseases and obesity. They commonly suffer from hip and elbow dysplasia which results in surgery. They can also suffer from eye disorders that can cause blindness.
Yorkshire Terrier
These small, tiny friends are the third most popular breed in America and fit quite well into their “mini diva” roles. Despite being pampered with the greatest foods and snacks, these Yorkies are prone to digestive problems so it’s important to constantly monitor their diet.
Dalmatians
This Disney-famous breed has a lot of patience and loyalty but are also gentle and athletic. The most common issue that Dalmatians run into is deafness. They are also susceptible to developing kidney and/or bladder stones, which requires a special diet or potentially surgery.
